Scott Balfour is President & Chief Executive Officer of Emera, a leading North American provider of energy services headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with investments in regulated electric and natural gas utilities, and related businesses and assets.
Scott joined Emera as Chief Financial Officer in 2012 and was appointed CEO in 2018. His leadership has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth. He played a lead role in the $10.4B USD acquisition of TECO Energy in 2016– at the time, one of Canada’s largest cross-border merger & acquisition transactions.
As CEO, Scott and the senior management team provide strategic oversight and valuable expertise to Emera’s portfolio of strong, well-run electric and natural gas utilities in Canada, the US and the Caribbean, while also delivering predictable, long-term value to shareholders. Prior to joining Emera, Scott served as CFO then President of Aecon Group, one of Canada’s largest publicly traded construction firms.
Scott serves as a member of the Board of several of Emera’s operating companies, including as Chair of its two largest, Tampa Electric and Nova Scotia Power. He is a Director of the Business Council of Canada, a board member of the Edison Electric Institute, and past Chair of the Ontario Energy Association.
The Honourable Lisa Raitt joined CIBC Capital Markets in January 2020, having previously worked in both the public and private sectors. Ms. Raitt’s current focus is on senior client coverage and business development with clients in the energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors, which align closely with her deep expertise.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Raitt was the President and CEO of the Toronto Port Authority. She was elected into the House of Commons in 2008, where she went on to hold three senior portfolios serving as Minister of Natural Resources, Minister of Labour, and Minister of Transport. Most recently, Ms. Raitt was the Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada.
Ms. Raitt holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis Xavier University and a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Guelph. She possesses an LL.B from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario bar in 1998. In 2020 Ms. Raitt was named a Woodrow Wilson Center Global Fellow of the Canada Institute.
In June 2024, Lisa was presented with an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa.
